Foreign policies remained very sensitive issues for all parties. The Angelo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), which was owned by the British government, continued to produce and market Iranian oil. In the beginning of 1930s some Iranians had begun to support the nationalization of the country's oil fields. After 1946 this became a major popular movement.
