Welcome to Rainbow Village! Kampung Pelangi, a small town in Indonesia, was once a visible slum, but today it appears bright, cheery and beautiful all thanks to some paint, over $22,000 of it.The brilliant idea originated with Slamet Widodo, a 54-year-old principal at a local junior high school. Having seen similar paint projects help other towns improve their image and local moral, he was inspired to do the same for his native village. The Central Java community footed the bill in hopes of shaking its reputation as a degraded slum, and the project was underway!
