Steve Kaufer cofounded TripAdvisor, a travel-planning site, in 2000. The idea for the firm was triggered by Kaufer's own experience planning a trip to Mexico, according to an article in The New York Times. Before TripAdvisor, Kaufer was the president of CDS Inc., a software company.
