The Vatican Secret Archives is no ordinary library.  It had remained absolutely closed to outsiders until 1881, when Pope Leo XIII opened the doors to selected outsiders.  This sacred vault contains historical records from the church, which are all technically owned by the Pope.  The archives contain 52 miles of shelving, and some have suggested that dark secrets from the past could be lurking, waiting to be discovered.
