Donja Lokosnica is titled as a Serbian “Paprika Capital Of The World”. Just a minor glance on these photos made by Marko Djurica will reveal to you why this town bears such a title. In fact most of it’s inhabitants, almost 1300 of them are involved in mass growing of delicious tasty paprika. When summer ends and autumn approaches most of the town walls will turn red, because of thousands of dried peppers that hang on them around the town of Lokosnica. All these delicious peppers are waiting patiently to end up in excellent Balkan dishes. Most of these hanging threads are handmade by local “Babushkas” and get dried by a traditional technique that old senior villagers preserved orally from generation to generation. Oh and by the way, process of growing and drying these peppers is 100% natural as it’s all made by power of sun, fresh air and good old nature.
