The aircraft had a four year lifespan and came into fruition way behind schedule. On its first glide flight in 1952 the aircraft experienced a collapsed nose landing gear, and would not have their first powered flight until 1955. In total, two aircraft completed 20 flights. The most famous would be completed by U.S. Air Force Captain Milburn G Apt when he became the first man to exceed Mach 3.
