Murder weapons: Machetes and rocket-propelled grenade launchers. The Mara Salvatrucha is also known as MS-13. It's a transnational criminal organization that was founded in the 1980s in Los Angeles, California by immigrant El Salvadorians. Today the MS-13 is known as one of the most violent gangs in both North and South America. The gang is heavily involved in drug, human, and weapons trafficking, prostitution, extortion, and murder, and they aren't afraid to put a hit out on a Federal agent. MS-13 has an estimated 70,000 members with roughly 10,000 in the United States. MS-13 has a partnership with Los Zetas, which entails hiring MS-13 members to undergo specialized military training.
