6. Stanford prison experiment
In 1971 psychologist Philip Zimbardo performed an experiment on persons’ reaction to the restriction of freedom, prison environment and imposed social role impact on behavior. Volunteers played roles of guards or prisoners and lived in the prison environment created in the basement of the faculty of psychology. Both quickly got used to their roles, every third guard appeared to have sadistic features and prisoners had moral traumas. Experiment was closed earlier than due time because of dangerous situations.
