Abbas Amir Entezam, 'Longest-Serving Political Prisoner', Dies at 86

Amir-Entezam has won multiple national and international awards, including the International Human Rights Bruno Kreisky Prize in 1998 and the Jan Karski Award for Moral Courage in 2003. Reflecting on his current circumstances, the 82-year-old Amir-Entezam said: “They have allowed me to stay at home, which means that they have me under house arrest. 28 years of imprisonment has severely harmed my soul and body, yet I have always thanked God and kept a smile on my face."
