Born in Lithuania in 1869, this prominent activist immigrated to the United States and spoke about anarchism, free speech, women’s rights, and birth control. However, due to the 1918 Alien Act, a bill that deported aliens that supported anarchism, she was deported to the Soviet Union on the S.S. Buford.
