Texting as a mode of communication is one of the most prevalent neck pain causes. “Text neck” is a thing because when most people text, they are looking down at the phone in their hands, putting musculoskeletal stress on people of all ages; the more your neck is flexed at a downward angle, the worse off you’ll be. Do what you can to keep your head at a more neutral angle while you text — for example, holding your phone closer to eye level or, if it’s available on your phone, using the talk-to-text feature.
