That’s right, first place is a tie. Where Canada failed, the United States succeeded and is therefore the only country to break the top 10 in all three categories. In helping strangers it’s 1st, in volunteering time it’s 5th, and in donating money it’s 9th. Burma (Myanmar) ranked 1st in donating money, 2nd in volunteering time, but really took a hit when it comes to helping strangers (63rd). Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the country's largest city, is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century.
