Norway is famous for fish, a few other dishes which are specialities roast venison, ptarmigan in cream sauce, wild crsnberries, lutfisk (a hot, highly flavoured cod fish) and herrings. Aquavit (schnapps) is a popular drink, however in general alcohol is limited and rather expensive. Stronger beers and wine may only be bought in state outlets.
