Norway is a long narrow country with fjords flooded valleys, which are between 80 - 160kms long, usually very deep and surrounded by towering mountains. Northern Norway is mainly inside the Arctic Circle so the countryside is stark. In the south, the scenery is in total contrast to the north, with many forests, lakes and rivers.
