Get a permit way in advance: Access to the volcano’s summit (the last 200m/660ft) is restricted. You need a free permit to climb it, but the number of visitors to the summit is restricted to 200 per day and permits are booked months in advance. If you are really serious about conquering the El Teide peak you should reserve your permission way ahead of time from the Autonomous Organization of National Parks.
