The same year, the Domestic Film Producers' Association  held the first film festival in Turkey in which the winning  film was Şakir Sırmalı's "Unutulan Sır" (Forgotten Secret). The period between 1939 and 1950 can best be described as a  transition period which tried to build on the work of the  previous period and constituted a bridge to the next period  called the "cinema artists' period".
