Staggering snow pile-ups in Canada after unprecedented weekend blizzard

In just 24 hours, more than 30 inches of snow fell on St John’s city – the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador – where winds hit speeds of more than 60mph. Today, the Canadian army will send up to 200 soldiers to help the province recover from the blizzard which has been nicknamed ‘Snowmageddon’.
