Why are some people so inconsiderate

Often, it is most difficult to deal with the inconsiderate behavior of a co-worker. While you may be able to choose who you spend your free time with, you don't get to choose who you work with. Some situations can be managed by simply grinning and bearing it, but what if that is not enough to keep the inconsiderate behavior at bay?
