You'd be surprised by how many germs are crawling on bathroom sinks, says Charles Gerba, Ph.D., professor of microbiology and environmental sciences at the University of Arizona.You can find tons of different bacteria, such as funghi and yeast, on the toilet, the sink, and the floor, says Gerba. So when you go to the bathroom to wash your face and put your phone on the counter, it's sitting right in those germs. And then you carry the phone and the germs away with you. You use your fingers to touch the phone, and then you use them to touch your face or pick up a sandwich.
