Amygdala: Limbic structure involved in many
brain functions, including
emotion, learning and memory. It is
part of a system that processes "reflexive"
emotions like fear and anxiety. We now know that this is not true —
emotions have as much to
do with the
heart and body as they
do with the
brain. Of the bodily organs, the
heart plays a particularly important role in our emotional experience. The experience of an
emotion results from the
brain,
heart and body acting in concert.Humans have many skin receptors that help us perceive what’s happening in both the outside and the inside of our bodies. Most of these receptors are found on the skin. They’re partly responsible for making us experience cold, heat, and many other things we experience every day.
