In vitro studies are largely supportive of anti-inflammatory action. Mechanisms elucidated include inhibition of COX-2 enzymes and other proinflammatory enzymes, antioxidant activity, reductions in expression of prostaglandin PGE2, and inhibition of cysteinyl-leukotrienes.
