Polarized sunglasses, preferably in a wraparound style, are essential. The endless ice field can cause extreme glare. Carry thin, flexible gloves that allow you full use of your hands. Wear a wool or synthetic cap with flaps for your ears and forehead, and wrap a warm scarf around your neck. Make sure you can cover all exposed skin in case of severe wind or temperature drops.Carry a waterproof camera. Bring extra batteries — carry at least one fully charged replacement on every excursion, as batteries discharge surprisingly quickly in cold weather. Bring a voltage converter and plug adapter.
