12 Everyday Things You Didn’t Know You Could Get Addicted To
Moisturiser
Although there are tons of moisturisers available, many of them don’t deliver on their promises. Sure, they’re formulated to plump the skin for a bit; however, by the end of the day, your skin is back to appear dry and dull. Not to mention everytime you wash your face, your skin feels tight and irritated. How can this be?
The curse of moisturiser overload
The short answer: your skin has become lazy. Every time you apply moisturiser to your skin, it signals your skin to stop producing its own moisture. Over time, your skin gets lazy and stops creating its own natural moisture full stop. This is often why your skin feels tight and dry after cleansing; it isn’t producing its own natural moisture.
The issue becomes more pronounced as we age and naturally stop producing as much oil and moisture. By the time we reach our 40s, our skin isn’t producing as much natural oil as it was before. Additionally, the years of product overuse begins to catch up with us. That’s right; all those toners, moisturisers, etc. that you’ve come to rely on over the years may have created the combination skin issues you complain about most. Have an oily T-zone and dry cheeks? Blame your skin care products.
