The WWF reports that earth has warmed by an average of nearly 1°C (33°F) in the past century. To prevent the worst effects of climate change there is global agreement that temperature rises need to be kept below 2°C (35°F) and ideally below 1.5°C (34°F), but current predictions suggest that we are on course for temperature rises of 4°C (39°F). To help reach the 1.5°C (34°F) target governments are being encouraged to reduce their carbon emissions. Polar bear habitats are already under threat because of this.
