Why do TV Host personalities make so much money?

Professional actors are often hired as television hosts. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, actors earn just under $34 per hour pm average. Naturally, a famous face on a nationally broadcast television show for a major network commands a higher salary. Comedian David Letterman takes home $31 million each year hosting "The Late Show With David Letterman" on CBS. Kelly Ripa, who began as a soap opera actress, earns $7 million as host of the daily "Live! With Kelly" show that airs weekdays on ABC.
