Zelenskyy graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University in 2000 with a law degree, but he decided to pursue a different career. While in University he developed an interest in music and theater, especially the improv and sketch-comedy competitions made popular by the Russian TV show
KVN. So, in 1997, while he was still in University he co-founded the comedy troupe Kvartal 95, named after his childhood neighbourhood. When he graduated he began to pursue a career as a performer.
