Depp reprised the role of Sparrow in later installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean series: Dead Man’s Chest (2006), At World’s End (2007), On Stranger Tides (2011), and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), which were among the highest-grossing films ever. During this time Depp reteamed with Burton for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), a film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical; as the serial killer Sweeney, Depp earned praise for both his acting and his singing, and he received another Oscar nomination.
