Interestingly, while there have been major improvements in many Eastern countries with regards to the standard of living available to the majority, poverty is still a massive issue in countries such as India. It will be interesting to see whether, in the future, those at the bottom of the income ladder are able to climb even a small number of rungs towards a better life.
