Help the audience feel included. A wedding is for the benefit of both the couple and the loved ones who have come to celebrate their marriage. While the couple should be the focus of the ceremony, remember to reach out to the audience as witnesses to (and participants in) the event. Thank them for their presence, and include them in your speech. For example, you might begin with a variation on the traditional opening, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this couple in holy matrimony.”
