Pantea is also the founder of Bar-Ax Promotions, an organisation promoting and defending the rights of Iranian underground musicians.Pantea emigrated with her parents to the Netherlands as invited political refugee.  She said in an interview on Dutch Public Broadcasting radio that when in 1986 she fled Iran as a 12-year-old girl, escaping with her father and her four-year-old brother, she dreamed of a future in which she could help those who were left behind.
