One of the most important aspects of the Director’s job is to capture all the necessary pieces–the shots and scenes on time and on budget — that come together in order to edit the movie in “post-production.” Films are shot out of order, due to practicality, so the Director has to have a clear idea of all the emotional and visual arcs that s/he envisions at any given time so that when the movie is edited, the audience is unaware of that process and sees it all as one continuous story. Finally, visual effects, sound effects, and music are added to complete the project. All under the supervision of the Director and in collaboration with the Producers and other members of the team.
