Build Communication Skills
Model good communication for your children. They’ll learn more from observing you than from what you say. Keep these points in mind:
- Don’t assume you know what your child means. Check when you’re not clear on what’s bothering them.
- Avoid criticizing, sarcasm, and judging.
- Be specific. Don’t talk in generalities.
- Deal with one problem at a time.
- Attack the problem, not the child.
