We need them to grow into mature adults who can successfully navigate difficult situations with their newly acquired knowledge and experience from past mistakes. Without mistakes, we’d never learn from them and therefore do nothing to correct them. This means that what’s been done wrong will continue until someone else steps in or until it self-destructs (e.g., a business model) because of its incessant mistakes. The bottom line is that freedom helps make us happier because it allows us to make choices that make us happy.
