In one study, identical twins were likelier to be artists than fraternal twins or non-related individuals. This suggests that a specific gene or genes may make someone more likely to be an artist. Of course, this does not mean everyone with these genes will become an artist. But it does suggest that being an artist may have more to do with biology than we previously thought. Environment and opportunity also play a role in whether or not someone pursues an artistic career.
