Sheikh Zakzaky arrives in Iran for medical treatment

Sheikh Zakzaky was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Tehran.

The couple’s visit comes after a protracted tussle with the Nigerian authorities to recover travel documents that were seized from them when they were arrested following the Zaria massacre in 2015.

Since the pair were released from illegal detention in July 2021, they have been prevented from flying abroad by Nigerian authorities who refused to return their passports.
