Make time to listen to your children. If you never listen to your children or you spend all of your time barking orders at them, they won't feel respected or cared for. Instead, try to set aside time each day to spend talking one-on-one with your child. When they're talking, give them your full attention, and show them you're listening by saying things like, "That makes sense," "Uh-huh," or "Go on." When they're finished talking, repeat what they said back in your own words so they'll know you understood them.
