Nowruz, also spelled as Navroz or Norooz, is the Persian New Year which is celebrated by various communities in different countries including Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and many others. It marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the new year in the Persian calendar. The Nowruz tradition includes various customs and rituals that are observed during the celebrations. Some of these traditions include: 1. Haft Seen: A table display called "Haft Seen" is set up in homes with seven symbolic items that start with the Persian letter "..." (seen) representing renewal and rebirth. These items include Sabzeh (sprouted wheat or barley), Samanu (sweet pudding made from wheat germ), Senjed (dried oleaster fruit), Seer (garlic), Seeb (apple), Somāq (sumac), and Serkeh (vinegar).
