Films must be approved by government censors before they can be shown in theaters, and musicians are often subject to bans on performing or recording music that is deemed inappropriate or subversive. Despite these challenges, there are still brave individuals in Iran who continue to push the boundaries of freedom of expression. Activists, journalists, artists, and intellectuals work tirelessly to shine a light on the injustices and human rights abuses that occur within the country, risking their safety and freedom in the process. The international community has a role to play in supporting freedom of expression in Iran.
