Early Life and Education
Harvey Cushing was born into a distinguished medical family, with his father being a prominent physician and his grandfather a renowned surgeon. From a young age, Cushing showed an aptitude for science and a keen interest in the medical profession. He attended Yale University, where he studied zoology and graduated with honors in 1891. After completing his undergraduate studies, Cushing enrolled in Harvard Medical School, where he excelled academically and demonstrated a talent for surgery. He graduated in 1895 and began his medical career as an intern at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
