Trust issues
Individuals who grew up with little warmth and affection may also develop trust issues later in life. Without a secure attachment to their caregivers, they may struggle to trust others and form healthy relationships. They may constantly fear betrayal and have a hard time relying on others for support. Low self-esteem: A lack of warmth and affection during childhood can also lead to low self-esteem in adulthood. When individuals do not receive validation and praise from their caregivers, they may internalize the belief that they are unworthy of love and attention. This can manifest as feelings of inadequacy, shame, and self-doubt.
