The cultural sphere underwent transformation as well. While the Soviets respected certain aspects of Mongolian culture, particularly its Buddhist heritage, they also imposed restrictions on religious practices and promoted atheism. This led to the suppression of Buddhist monasteries, many of which were closed or repurposed during the Stalinist purges. Nonetheless, elements of traditional Mongolian culture persisted, often reinterpreted through a socialist lens, leading to a unique fusion of traditions and modern ideologies.
