Similarly, certain yoga poses or exercises that involve bending over or lying flat shortly after eating might also increase the risk of reflux. The way we dress can also have an unexpected impact. Tight-fitting clothing, particularly around the waist, can increase intra-abdominal pressure. This external pressure on the stomach can squeeze its contents upwards, making it easier for acid to reflux into the esophagus. Opting for looser-fitting garments, especially after meals, can help alleviate this pressure and potentially reduce the frequency and severity of heartburn.
