Tajikistan Begins Free Distribution of "Shahnameh," Ferdowsi's Epic Masterpiece, to Promote Cultural Heritage

This ambitious cultural project is being carried out in different regions of Tajikistan. In the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and the eastern districts of Tajikabad, Lakhsh, and Rasht, each family has already received two copies of the Shahnameh. The distribution is part of a broader movement to increase access to literary classics and foster a sense of shared identity and pride. The copies are printed in the Cyrillic script, which is the official script used for the Tajik language. This choice of script makes the text more accessible to the general population in Tajikistan, where the use of Cyrillic is standard, ensuring that the epic can be read and appreciated by a wider audience.
