Many people with Restless Legs Syndrome also suffer from a condition called "Periodic Limb Movement Disorder" (PLMD). In this state, the person involuntarily kicks or moves their legs every 15 to 40 seconds during sleep. These movements cause the individual to transition out of deep sleep, resulting in extreme fatigue during the day. Diagnosis of this condition is usually done through a sleep study (polysomnography) to accurately record and analyze the patient's movement patterns throughout the night.
