The Difference Between the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems
Our nervous system has two main modes: the "fight or flight" mode (sympathetic) for times of danger, and the "rest and repair" mode (parasympathetic), which is managed by the vagus nerve. The problem is that in today’s busy world, many of us stay stuck in fight-or-flight mode even when there is no actual danger. Learning to "hack" the vagus nerve helps us manually switch the body out of emergency mode and back into a state of peace.
