From Territorial Dispute to Diplomatic Partnership

Looking back, the period from 1971 to 1975 represents a "Golden Age" of diplomacy between the two shores. It showed that even the most sensitive territorial disputes could be solved through international law and mutual concession. While the 1979 Revolution in Iran would eventually change the nature of this relationship, the 1971 recognition remains the legal foundation for Bahrain’s sovereignty today.
