In 1985, seeking refuge from political persecution, she fled Iran and arrived in Germany as a refugee. Like many newcomers, she faced the daunting task of rebuilding a life from scratch in a country with a different language, culture, and social structure. Rather than being deterred by these challenges, Eskandari-Grünberg immersed herself in her new environment. She began learning German and pursued higher education with a focus on psychology. Her journey from a political refugee to a doctoral candidate at the Goethe University Frankfurt is a testament to her intellectual vigor and her determination to turn her personal trauma into a tool for helping others.
