Seeing the planet as a fragile, lonely blue marble in a vast void sparked the modern environmental movement, proving that a single image could alter the consciousness of an entire species.However, the history of photography is also a history of the struggle for authenticity. Almost as soon as the camera was invented, people found ways to manipulate it. From spirit photography in the Victorian era to the airbrushing of political rivals out of official photos in Stalin’s Russia, the "truth" of the camera has often been a facade.
