A lot of people seem to think that nails and hair keep getting longer even though someone has died days before, but what's actually happening is that their skin is drying up, and shrinks back. Whether it's pulling back from the cuticles, or away from the hair follicles, it makes it appear that nails and hair have grown when it has not.
