Rises in the price of petrol are fuelling unrest in Iran

The protests have put renewed pressure on the government as it deals with US sanctions following Donald Trump's decision to withdraw America from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Iranian authorities have claimed funds from the fuel price increase will help 18 million low income families and the country’s flagship news programme has blamed “saboteurs” of “vandalism” during the demonstrations.
